Hello South Africa® Phrasebook
The Hello South Africa Audio Phrasebook App is based on the Hello South Africa Phrasebook – 11 Official Languages, a user-friendly souvenir phrasebook that was launched to great media acclaim in March 2010 just prior to the Soccer World Cup.
The phrasebook was launched by Exclusive Books and was sold nationwide by many of South Africa’s reputable book sellers and retail outlets, including Exclusive Books, CNA, Van Schaik, Woolworths, Pick n Pay and a number of independent book stores.
It was hailed as a unique celebration of South Africa’s rich multilingualism and multiculturalism, promoting the use of all of our official languages and advocating communicating with someone in his/her Mother Tongue, capturing the spirit of South Africa’s rainbow nation.
The translations, pronunciation guides and pseudo-phonetics were done by top academics in the African Languages Departments of distinguished South African Universities. The phrasebook also boasts informative insights into our country’s rich linguistic and cultural make-up, written by leaders in the fields of linguistics and social anthropology.
As a result of the popularity and success of the pocket-sized phrasebook, and the wish to align ourselves with the world’s technological advancements, the Hello South Africa Audio Phrasebook App was born – introducing the Hello South Africa Audio Phrasebook App in South Africa’s 11 Official Languages. The 11 Languages of South Africa Audio Phrasebook App consists of South Africa’s 11 Official Languages and in addition, there are 10 individual language apps, each comprising one of South Africa’s Official Languages.
Developed for the smart phone market (BlackBerry, Android and Apple OS), the Hello South Africa Audio Phrasebook App has now become even more useful, giving you the convenience of having your desired phrase at your fingertips.
For most people their mobile phone is the one item they will take with them when leaving home. The Hello South Africa Audio Phrasebook App is one tool you won’t want to leave your home/hotel without!
